“Mentoring is a relationship in which a person with more knowledge, skills, experience and wisdom, guides, supports and advises a more junior person” Mentoring and other forms of one-to-one support are becoming increasingly important to help with the development of individuals in the workplace. For mentoring to be effective, both mentor and mentee should be thoroughly briefed in the roles and responsibilities. Matching of mentors and mentees must be done carefully to ensure that the relationship is positive for both parties. Equality plus can advise on the development of mentoring schemes as well as providing briefings for participants and assisting with or carrying out the matching process.
